The Moon and the Tiger

With large paws Moonfang strolled down the sandy beach, his eyes moving slowly from left to right as he checked the area, slowly raising his head. Nostrils flared as he had caught a scent moving slowly to a crouched position, following his scent. Under the clear sky, guided by the moon's image on the nearby calm sea he stopped by a creature that intrigued him. It had a hard shell, six legs, pincers and two moving antennae. The animal lay there unmoving apparently not sensing the Frostsaber's approach.

Closing it's nose to the Scuttler Crab, Moonfang sniffed this curiosity up, trying to turn it upside down with a gentle paw movement but then much to the giant feline's surprise the crustacean came to life. A pincer latched onto the cat's paw, holding onto it firmly. Alerted and spooked letting out a couple of long annoyed crowls the striped cat tried to shake it off but this creature the size of a small shield held on. Useless swipes from the other front paw did not dislodge the crab, causing Moonfang to yelp. His curiosity had gotten him in trouble again but it was now matched by his anger. A final movement of his front leg forced the crab to release it's prey, tumbling into the sand.

Determined to enact his revenge on the sea creature the White and black striped cat pranced across the sand toward it only to be met again by it's pincers. Cautious he took a few steps back, growling and mewling it's annoyance at the Scuttler Crab the large cat raised a paw, swiping the air with it, hoping to intimidate the hard shelled crustacean but to little gain. The animal determined to defend itself scuttled toward the meowling distressed feline who backed off, darting off across the sand, soon forgetting it's toy.

It's prancing run brought Moonfang to a small group of rocks that covered the beach just south from the bony remains of a grounded giant sea-turtle. Climbing upon the smallest of them he hopped to a larger one to his left. A new scene now unfolded the cat's eyes. Rolling waves lit by the silvery light by the enormous disc of the Moon, thousands of droplets falling onto the feline's fur, making it glisten like pearls under the night sky. Charmed by the sight Moonfang sat on his haunches, his blue eyes studying the Light of all Lights, the evershining silver moon.

A voice came from behind, a soft female's voice that made the cat turn it's head and raise his ears, "Looking at the moon you big baby?". An elf maid with blueish-purple skin, silvery glowing eyes, wearing a simple white robe climbed besides the Frostsaber, sitting nearby on the rock "Beautiful isn't it, Mother Moon, she who lights our way, guides us and made us all.....". Her hand ran across the cat's fur and the beast curled down besides her starting to purr softly. Faerthuriel smiled at the scene as she looked at the sea, her companion and the sky. She had all she wanted, The Moon to light her path and the Tiger to be her friend, she was free under the starlight and content in the peacefulness of the evergreen forests and it was the only thing that mattered.
